Vintage Lens Comparison-Bokeh

Posted on December 9, 2020 at 2:05 PM

This is a lens comparison between two awesome old lenses that are very similar in age and focal length. Both are just over 50 years old, the Takumar is a few years older than the Sears lens. Both lenses were shot at there widest apeture and both images are shot with the same camera, same exact settings, and same exact processing settings (very little post processing).

Personally, I actually like the bokeh and saturation of the Sears lens the best....

Camera:

Pentax K1 Full Frame 36mp Sensor

Lenses:

1st: Super-Takumar 50mm f/1.4 [8 Element Version]

2nd: Auto-Sears 55mm f/1.4 [Re-Branded Rikenon Version]

My Vintage Lens Kit for 2019

Posted on January 1, 2019 at 8:05 PM

Those that are familiar with my photography know I love shooting with Vintage Lenses, specifically Takumar and some older SMC Pentax Lenses.

Pictured is my Vintage Lens Kit that I'll be shooting out of moving forward in to 2019 and beyond. Out of the many lenses in my collection these are my 9 favorite. All these lenses are at least 43 years old, with the oldest being 55 years old. The Camera Body I am using for these lenses is a 2016 Full Frame 36 megapixel Pentax K1 DSLR (First Version).

The lenses included in this kit are:

| Super-Takumar 35mm f/3.5 | Super-Takumar 50mm f/1.4 "8 Element Version" |

| SMC Pentax 50mm f/1.2 | Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 85mm f/1.8 |

| Super-Takumar 105mm f/2.8 | Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 135mm f/2.5 |

| Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 200mm f/4 |

| Super-Multi-Coated MACRO-Takumar 50mm f/4 |

| Super-Multi-Coated MACRO-Takumar 100mm f/4 |

My 3 favorite Vintage Lenses that I shoot with most of the time are highlighted in bold black.

2019 will be an interesting and fun year making "Photography Art"!

Happy Shooting! ;)

Vintage Lenses vs Modern Lenses

Posted on April 6, 2018 at 6:35 PM

I like the vintage image better even though the modern 50mm looks a tad bit sharper. It's not always about sharpness ;)

These older lenses just have a character to them modern lenses can not duplicate......They're all great though in their own way.

I took these photos with my Vintage Helios 44-2 58mm Lens on my Canon 80D.

Canon 80D w/vintage 50mm Lens

This is my Canon 80D with a vintage Pentax SCM 50mm f/1.4 Lens attached to it.

Pentax started making this particular lens in 1975-1980 (K-mount), so this lens is approximately 40 years old, perhaps older. It is a very fun lens to use and takes awesome images!
